Concrete barriers, while popular, are often not the best choice for high-speed areas and can contribute to fatal accidents by redirecting vehicles back into active traffic. Traffic cones and drums are also popular but can cause confusion for drivers at normal traffic speeds – traffic engineers and human factors professionals from Texas A&M concluded that gaps between drums or cones cause significant delays in driver response time.
Enter the 42” LCD
This hefty barricade forms a clear line of delineation and is treated like a wall by drivers, increasing safety for all.
The OTW LCD is a traffic control device that is approved by the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) 350 standard for a Longitudinal Channelizing Device (LCD) at Test Level 3 (TL-3) criteria for use in high-speed construction zones. This means that it has been crash-tested at high speeds and is designed specifically to keep motorists and workers as safe as possible.
Most commonly ordered in OSHA-approved safety orange, our plastic 42” LCD is the largest barricade OTW offers. It is well able to protect roadside work zones, construction sites, and more, with its sleek jersey shape and linkability.
An optional fence kit provides a pedestrian deterrent, offers protection from projectile debris, and can support privacy screening.
