Plastic Jersey Barricades for Large-Scale Factory Construction Projects
Construction projects in the US take place year-round, but with the advent of cooler weather in the northern states, we’ll begin to see outdoor projects fizzle out. While the Northern US will see a slow season for construction as fall and winter approach, large projects in the South will continue on.
Semiconductor factories need construction barricades for year-round work sites.
The US is seeing explosive growth of semiconductor factories thanks to initiatives by the Biden-Harris Administration to bring chipmaking back to the US. According to an April press release, the US Department of Commerce and TSMC Arizona Corporation (TSMC Arizona) signed a non-binding preliminary memorandum of terms to fund $6.6 billion in direct funding for three new leading-edge semiconductor factories in Phoenix, Arizona. This partnership seeks to strengthen the US economy and ensure that there is a reliable supply of computer chips for a plethora of industries (automotive, electronics, high-performance computing, and more).
These initiatives are being pursued largely due to the extreme shortage of chips the US experienced in 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It became glaringly obvious that year how dependent the US was on other countries for our supply of computer chips. In 2022, the “Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors and Science” Act, aka the CHIPS Act, was signed into effect, which sought to “revitalize domestic manufacturing, create good-paying American jobs, strengthen American supply chains, and accelerate the industries of the future” (The White House).
While there will be new dedicated chip factories built in the coming years, many current facilities (like Samsung, Micron, etc) in warmer states like Arizona and Texas are undergoing expansion to keep up with demand. These expansions happen during working hours, yet the plants must remain open to some capacity to maintain the necessary productivity levels. To maintain operation while under large-scale construction, these factory construction sites require safety measures like high-visibility Jersey barricades to keep employees safe.
Versatile plastic jersey barriers increase safety and maintain productivity.
For projects like these, there is no better option than plastic jersey barricades. With the scale of factory builds, the constant movement and shifting of construction areas means that barricades will need to be moved frequently. Plastic jersey barriers are much easier to move than solid concrete ones. While ballasted barricades won’t go anywhere unless intentionally relocated (they weigh up to 1330 pounds when filled as directed), they remain lightweight when empty – this makes them simple and easy to reposition.
Per requirements for factories under construction while still in operation, orange high-visibility jersey barricades are a necessity. Bright orange barriers are more visible than grey concrete to those coming and going on a daily basis, which makes them safer overall. With constantly moving perimeters, a highly visible construction barricade wall ensures that factory employees know exactly what and where is under construction each day.
In addition to their highly visible color, each jersey barricade is blow molded from fully recyclable, UV-resistant high-density polyethylene (HDPE). This makes them great for sites in sun-soaked states like Arizona and Texas.
Add in our fully compatible galvanized steel barricade fence panels, which can be customized with branded mesh screening to protect passersby from FOD and provide more security to construction sites, and you’ve got one of the most versatile large-scale construction barricades available. Steel fencing creates a more secure perimeter for sites under construction, and it’s easy to add fence panels to any 42” jersey barricade for a strong and immovable construction barricade wall.
OTW’s jersey barricades and fence panels work together to keep operations running at large-scale construction sites
Whether for a new semiconductor factory, an existing electronics manufacturing plant like Intel, Samsung, Micron, and Microchip Technology, among others, who have benefited from the CHIPS Act, or any other type of large-scale construction project, OTW 42” jersey barricades and barricade fence panels are a construction site duo like no other.
As our mission states, “Our drive for continual innovation helps us embrace progress and cultivate safer environments for all”, and we are proud to be a part of creating safer construction sites across the US. Our products are made in America, and we recognize the benefit of bringing the supply chain closer to home to support and strengthen the US economy. We are poised and ready to see how this monumental task of bringing the most advanced chip manufacturing in the world to the US plays out, and we’re here to help keep large-scale construction sites safe with jersey barricades as the growth in semiconductor factories continues.
