A Pedestrian Barricade With Built-In Signage

The OTW Crowd Control Billboard Barricade is a portable, interlocking pedestrian barricade with a built-in panel area for custom signage. When airports face closures and need to redirect passengers, you need an easy, aesthetic, and effective temporary barricade you can put in place. The Asheville airport approached us years ago and asked us if we could help create one for them. They loved our OTW 10” Low Profile Airport Barricade. We had been providing those for their airside construction projects, but they were using traditional steel barricades in other parts of their airport.

We came up with a folding, interlocking barricade that could form a temporary pedestrian boundary and, even better, hold custom signage. Today it’s used across stadiums, campuses, construction sites, and events all around the world, but it remains useful to airports for the same reasons we invented it: directing passengers.

Temporary Routes, Entrance Changes, and Queues

Eight-foot sections interlock to form a continuous pedestrian boundary. A Billboard Barricade can point passengers toward a relocated entrance, form a temporary queue, or define a pedestrian detour.

Folding Feet for Transportation and Storage

We knew that traditional steel barricades posed particular challenges when moving and storing them. They were clunky to transport across the airport and very inefficient to store. At times they even damaged the floors! We designed the OTW Crowd Control Billboard Barricade with rubber feet that fold inward so the barricades can nest and stack flat for efficient storage. They can easily be transported on a cart or in a truck bed and can be set up in a matter of minutes.

Put Your Airport’s Messaging on the Panel

The built-in sign area accepts a 28.5-by-36-inch finished panel. OTW offers custom signs with your airport’s directional graphics, project messaging, or branding. For airports that prefer to print locally, OTW can provide panel dimensions and artwork requirements.

Ballast the Barricade Without Water

We also offer a crowd control hanging weight so you can add ballast to the OTW Crowd Control Billboard Barricade without using water. It adds stability without having to fill or drain water (a practical option for airport interiors and finished floors). You can slide one or two weights directly onto the frame and easily remove them when you want to relocate or rearrange the barricade line.

Can you make OTW Crowd Control Billboard Barricades in custom colors?

Yes! Custom colors are available so the barricades can fit whatever look you’re going for. Send us your Pantone reference and desired quantity, and we’ll confirm the color options, pricing, minimum order quantity, and lead time. We usually have you review a physical color chip before approving the order, since screens and photos can show colors differently. If an exact match isn’t available, we’ll offer the closest available option for your approval. Custom color orders have minimum quantities and require additional production time.⁠⁠

How do Billboard Barricades stack for storage?

The feet fold inward so the barricades can nest and stack flat for compact storage. For reference, OTW ships up to 30 nested Billboard Barricades per pallet. We recommend you use your judgement for whatever stack height is safest for your storage space, but they are designed to stack high for efficient storage.

How many Billboard Barricades will I need?

Each Billboard Barricade is eight feet long. Dividing the length of each planned barricade line by eight and rounding up gives a starting estimate. The final quantity also depends on the layout, separate runs, and any additional units used for signs.
