Serious Safety, Fun Interaction

Crowd barricades at UAF

People get together for many reasons, and, for many, fun and camaraderie is often the goal. Everyone is focused on the main event at concerts, sporting events, exhibitions, rallies, or public speeches. The last thing on attendees’ and party-goers’ minds is safety… that’s why it’s the first thing on ours!

Fun on another (safe) level.

OTW Safety is the leader in passive crowd control safety and security. For over ten years, our crowd control barricades have stood diligently at games, concerts, events, and music festivals. The Utah Arts Fest, for example, welcomes 50,000+ attendees to downtown Salt Lake City each summer and generates nearly $1.5 million in revenue over two days. They showcase artists and performers, promote fine art in a range of artistic mediums, and seek to encourage appreciation and innovation in the arts industry1. Each year, they set up OTW Billboard Barricades at their outdoor venue and know that the safety of their guests is in good hands.

Granary Live, another local Salt Lake venue, hosts a weekly concert series throughout the summer. Their quest to “amplify the cultural offerings of Salt Lake City, connect fans with top-tier talent, and further establish its namesake neighborhood2 means that the standing-room-only venue sees hundreds of visitors each week, all looking to have a good time. In 2023, they began using our crowd control barricades as a permanent part of their weekly safety and security operation: sectioning off VIP tables, creating queues, and more.

Because the Billboard Barricade is so easy to deploy, strike, and move around at a moment’s notice (but still durable and incredibly sturdy) it has become an integral part of many events across the US over the last decade.

OTW Safety crowd barricades also offer a unique secondary function – they serve as an advertising or display space. The Billboard Barricade has the unique capability of supporting signage for notifications, directions, security bulletins, or things like event graphics and sponsor logos. So much can be done with the display space! While our crowd control barricades always promote safety, they also have a voice in the community.

We don’t just create safe barricades; we help with crowd control measures as well.

Our sponsorships and site visits are perfect examples of how we visit and are present at a variety of events, schools, and conferences (particularly ones for event planners). We get to see our barricades in action and help event organizers ensure that they have the best crowd-control methods in place for the coming year. FestForums, in particular, is one we love to be a part of!

They focus on all aspects of what makes festivals come to life, from ticketing to talent to sustainability to safety. Event attendees, event coordinators, and security planners in particular are all focused on providing a safe and secure environment. OTW is happy to support this goal with interlocking plastic barricades that create barriers to entry, define queue lines, and delineate limited access areas. Fest Forums takes place this year from February 15-17, 2024, in Santa Barbara, California, and our very own CRO, Marina Pastrana Ríos will be the moderator of the safety panel. We are privileged to give insight into the safety industry and how festivals around the country can make their events the safest they can be.

As Eve Cohen, managing director of Life is Beautiful festival, told Bizbash.com:

We don’t want people to feel afraid of security. We want people to feel [security is a] part of making a safe experience for the guests.

Safety is a beautiful thing.

OTW Safety strives to provide safety and security with our products, all while aesthetically complementing the surroundings. Alongside our beautiful barricades, OTW also assists in security strategy and planning. With 8 years of experience in the US Air Force with security forces, our COO, Eric Stevens, helps OTW bring “international experience and professionalism to you in a small, highly agile team who can meet your needs and exceed your expectations.”

We strive to provide the best safety equipment on the market to help keep events safe and secure so that those who attend can focus on fun!
