OTW Safety is always looking for ways to be involved in the community and we try to give back as much as we possibly can. One of our favorite ways to give back to our community is through the Burton Chill Program. Each year, we take about 75-100 underserved youth from the Salt Lake area to our local mountain. We provide them with everything they need to learn to ride: lift tickets, lessons, transportation, and head-to-toe gear. We use snowboarding to motivate youth to accomplish goals they never thought they could, while teaching them some of the most important lessons in life about patience, persistence, responsibility, courage, respect, and pride – our weekly themes within the program.
Taylor Smith and myself (Ryan Sueoka) have been involved in the Chill program for a combined 10+ years. It is something that we look forward to every year. Tomorrow will be the last night of Chill for the season and as always it will be full of laughter and life long memories that we hope the wonderful kids will keep with them through the rest of their lives. Check out our Facebook page later for some photos and videos from our most recent season of Chill.
